  1. My current events posting is from an article I read this weekend in the Washington Post titled, “Teacher Spends Two Days as a Student and is Shocked at What She Learns.”
Many teachers, myself included, take the student day for granted. We assume that our classroom is the most important and that an attentive student is one that sits down quietly, does his/her work, and always asks questions. We often forget how tiring it might be to be sitting all day, and when a student acts out, we mistakenly blame it on “bad behavior;” however, if I was forced to remain passively learning all day, everyday, I would more than likely “act out,” too. I’m too active and ADD to remain in my seat, on task, and “good” for 7 hours a day. As a teacher, I’m interested in trying some of the author’s recommendations for classroom teaching:

    • A mandatory stretch break in the middle of class
    • A Nerf basketball hoop for the first minute and last minute of class
    • An egg-timer to shut me up and get to student thoughts, problems, and questions (I love my own voice!)
    • Start off class with students’ own questions
    • A more lounge-type atmosphere
    • A five minute “reading period” where all questions are answered before any writing/multiple choice is attempted

As a teacher that is researching as many “best teaching practices” that I can, I hope to amend my teaching style to allow each student to do his or her best in the school system. I have known for a long time that the system is broken, and I would like to do everything in my power to help “fix” it; however, there are barriers in my way:

    • Legislation that the state, district, and (to an extent) my principals have to follow
o It’s made with the students’ best interest in mind, it really is, but often time, its implementation is marred with red tape, overly political agendas, and ill-equipped teachers.
    • Society
o There is a tide of “anti-teachers” mentality ravaging the educational landscape—we’re blamed for a lot of things that are out of our control, but certainly affect student performance in the classroom.
    • Parents
o The school system is radically different than when you were in school—heck, it’s radically different from when I was in school, and I only graduated nine years ago!
    • Students
o No, you’re not entitled to anything. Please work for it and earn it—whatever it might be. The best things in life are worth going through hell for, and right now that hell might be school. Know that many teachers are actively trying to make schooling and education better for you.
    • Myself
o It’s easy to be lazy and do what I’ve always done; it takes constantly reminding myself that it’s not about me, it’s about the student to continuously push myself forward as an educator and as a person.

    1. The Maryville shooting was a horrible thing that I believe shouldn’t have happened. In this story 15 year old Jaylen Fryburg took the life of Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, and three other people including himself. Police believe he suffered from depression. In person he was a nice person, someone very popular. On twitter he was a whole different person. It scared some people and gave very confusing vibes. The whole thing rooted from Shaylee dating one his cousin’s. She didn’t know that Jaylen had feelings for her. With his depression this only weighted on him much more. It pushed him over the limit. I believe someone could have helped with his situation by just asking questions. When people saw that he was a different person on twitter, they should have asked what’s wrong maybe.

    2. I do agree that sitting in class with no breaks can be hard on students. When students switch classes not every student gets to class early and gets to relax for the time they have left before class begins again. Having a relaxed environment could have positive effects on learning. For example grades can go up, attitude can improve, and tiredness could decrease. Taking time for a break from learning during the school day is a great idea. Sometimes I don't get enough sleep either from family matters or after school activities. That short break could relieve some of my sleepiness. Making it easier for me to concentrate on my work and do my work the right way.

    3. I do strongly agree that I think we should have a break or something fun in every class so that way we don’t “act out.” Things were different back then when our teachers were students them sleves. If the teachers were to put more fun in the learning of kids, then kids wouldn’t act out and look forward to learning in class. Teenagers mostly, get tired of just sitting there in bordem. High schoolers, are very active and cant sit still because that’s not what they like to do.

  2. General Motors recalls

In the year of 2014 GM has recalled 27 million vehicles so far. Due to ignition switch problems. The faulty ignition switch slips out of its run position into the accessory position because of the weight on the key chain. Causing the cars power steering, power assisted brakes, and airbags to be disabled. In 2014 this has caused 13 deaths and many other crashes.

In a later investigation, reveled that GM CEO, Marry Barra has known about the problem almost a decade, they were asked to tell customers with the Chevrolet Cobalt model about the problem. Senate subcommittee also suggested that General Motors tell the owners of the defective cars to stop driving them, Barra responded by saying that she would let her own son drive one if he took certain precautions.
Saturday Night Live even poked fun at Barra's testimony during a skit that mocked the CEO for having few answers. The Justice department is conducting an investigation and GM has promised full cooperation.

On June 5, 2014, Barra announced that General Motors had completed its internal investigation and found that there was no deliberate cover-up by the company.
As a result of the investigation there were 15 employees fired.
“Some were removed because of what we consider misconduct or incompetence. Others have been relieved because they simply didn’t do enough: They didn’t take responsibility; didn’t act with any sense of urgency,” Barra said during her announcement. Maybe GM will break the industry-wide 2004 record of 30.8 million recalls.

    1. My parent’s car was in one of the recalls and I don’t even think about the recall, after reading this it’s scary that I did not think of this matter more seriously. The ignition switch moving out of position because of our key chains makes me think how much weight we can put on them. I remember reading the letter from GM that stated the reason for recall. I do remember that my parents and I did have a talk about what we could do since we could get the problem fixed. My dad said that we needed to get a new key chain that separates from the original ring, to minimize weight. He also said that we need to tell each other immediately if something is not right with the car.

The one reason why GM never fixed the problem when they first found out was because of business and money. If Mary Barra would have recalled all of those vehicles sooner GM would have lost so much money. Since only a couple people have died from the ignition key coming out of place GM would spend a lot less money paying off the family than fixing every single car. Just think 27 million just this year have been recalled. This recall goes back years and since fixing every car takes time, the time that takes to fix the problem costs money.

    2. Yea this is crazy that people buy a brand new car from GMC and could possible die because of their poor ability to build a vehicle. I believe that General Motors should give the buyer their money back or a new car. GMC has been making vehicle since January 1912 and something like this that the key could just fall right out of the ignition is ridiculous.

  3. My current event for this week is “The Perfect Crime” from Freakonomics radio.
Basically, he starts off presenting the idea that he wants to kill someone but he doesn’t want to go to prison for it. He starts explaining his idea to us by saying, he would wait till they were walking outside and then he would run the person over with his car. Now in small cities I don’t think that idea would work, but he lives in New York where accidents like that happen a plethora of times. A prosecutor, Lisa Smith, validates the claim by bringing up a past incident with a little boy who got hit and was killed. The driver will most likely get failure to yield charges and not get a manslaughter charge.

In the U.S, pedestrian deaths make up 14% of total traffic fatalities, however in New York its 52% which makes you wonder if the drivers are really to blame. In accidents its hard to tell whose fault it really is, whether it’s the stupidity of the driver or the stupidity of the pedestrian. Or maybe it’s not stupidity at all, maybe it’s just a situation of the wrong place at the wrong time. Of the percentage of the deaths 37% of them are drunk pedestrians. He proposes a really interesting question, who are the roads for anyway? Which some may argue for cars and some may argue for pedestrians.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. An interesting post indeed. However, as the example stated that the man did not get a manslaughter charged against him, he did indeed get charged. I would like to know how he would get away with a crime without ever being charged anything. I believe that the most important thing you need are gloves. You don’t want police linking you to the scene of the crime because you left your fingerprints at the scene of the crime.

      Delete
    2. What I think is Funny is how his Argument in defense to running someone over is "who's road is it anyways?" Killing someone is killing some one. Would the pedestrian be in the wrong place at the wrong time? Yes. Is that a good argument in defending his position? not reallyy...But his argument over who's fault it is, is where he has Valid points.

      Delete
    3. I personally think that it would not work, because if you hit someone with a car in New York where the streets are crowded its going to difficult to get away with witnesses and all that. And when it comes to what charge he will get, it will most likely not be the one that he disserves, depending on the situation and where it happened, just like when the man got charged with failure to yield charges.

      Delete
    4. This is a very crazy topic. It is true though that there are many people are on the street and many injuries and deaths happen in new york. It wouldn't be a perfect crime because he still would get some sort of charges. It is a really good argument thought because he could possibly get away with it if he is a really good liar and makes it look like it was an accident. There are also many people which means a lot of witnesses.

  4. Chris Stewart

Three Denver girls skipped school and tied to join ISIS. The first indication that something was wrong was when a phone call from his daughter’s school to let Assad Ibrahim know that she had not come to class. So her father dialed her cell and she answered, but officials say she didn’t tell him that she was on her way to Syria to join ISIS. The American girl of Sudanese descent also kept quiet about her two girlfriends, Americans of Somali descent, who were flying with her to Turkey by way of Germany. Those two and told their father, Ali Farah, that they were going to the library, but when Farah got home from work, a visitor came calling, according to the documents. Apparently it was Ibrahim. Farah should check his daughter’s passports were missing, the visitor told him. They were gone as well as $2,000 in cash. The two families called the FBI. They said they thought the girls were on their way to Turkey. The agency put out a notice for their passports. The girls parents say they had no idea their children planned to travel. None of them had ever run away before. This disappearance hit them out of the blue. Two more turned up in tandem with the girls’ runaway attempt. On Monday, a radical convert to Islam in Canada ran down two soldiers in his car, killing one of them. ISIS has, for an anti-western organization, been surprisingly attractive to young recruits from the West. More than 100 of the foreign fighters have come from the united Sates. Investigators are also not sure the girls had even worked out the final goal for travel. The girls explained that they stole the $2,000 and their passports from their mother. They wouldn’t tell Driscoll why they flew to Germany. The deputy called dispatchers and had the girls runaway listing removed.

    1. This is an interesting story. The girls just disappeared out of the blue. I am surprised that they did find the girls as fast as they did. This event shows that ISIS individuals are already in the states and they are Americans. This also shows that security should get a little stricter when they see three young girls traveling to Europe.

    2. This is the type of story that just pisses me off, three girls are willing to betraying their own country to run away, travel, and support ISIS. ISIS is an anti-western organization that has stated that they will not stop until they eliminate America. Just thinking the ISIS could have brain washed these three girls over the Internet. The FBI have stopped the girls from traveling to Europe and are now most likely try to get all the information they can about where and how ISIS came in contact with them.

    3. This story is truly disappointing, the three girls attempted to join ISIS. I am very surprised that they had all of this planned out. It is very scary knowing that some American citizens are willing to betray their country, family, and friends in order to join an anti-western organization that wants to eliminate America. The FBI needs to find out how ISIS contacted these girls and must put an end to it before anyone else tries to join them.

    4. This is very interesting to me. I wonder why they would plan to run away to join ISIS so randomly. And the fact that they made a whole plan to leave is just crazy to me; how did they not think of the problems with just running away from everything they know? Although I don’t quite understand their perspective, to me it just seems like a very selfish and under thought. But what’s scary to me is the statement that “more than 100 of the foreign fighters have come from the united Sates” I wonder what influenced so many to join an organization against their own country.

    5. Im sure I'm not the only one asking this, But WHY? what drove them to leave the country to join a Terrorist group. Is this just a maturity thing. Are they just to young and stupid to see what they are doing? they actually want to take innocent lives and join ISIS to kill people. Maybe they where motivated by another factor who knows?

      Delete
    6. I believe this story to be very disturbing. I wonder what made those girls want to join ISIS. Just knowing what they stand for and what they do. Maybe they did that to get back at their parents or something. I also think they went on not thinking. What if the ISIS uses them for sex slaves instead of soldiers. Kind of like the referees in Africa. I just don’t think they thought as far as they should have.

    7. This story is very disappointing, these girls are not thinking well. Do they even know what they are getting themselves in to? I don't think they're going to get any beneficial things when they join ISIS.

    8. In my opinion from reading this story, I believe that this story is actually just disturbing and a disappointment to see that people would actually think of something like this for them to do.

    11. This story is disappointing how three girls would leave their country to join forces with ISIS, and even more disappointing how they would steal $2,000 from their parents, everything about this article is sad. Besides the part where they found them before they actually joined the ISIS. Im surprised that they had all of this planed out and went threw with it. Im left wondering why they would even have the desire to join ISIS in the first place.

  5. My current event is from CNN news. I read about the Washing school shooting, the article is titled, “Washington school shooting claims another victim.”

I choose this article, because this made me realize that this could happen to any school even Matanzas. As disturbing as this article is, it makes people open their eyes and realize that this could happen to their school, and most people would not expect the people who do it. For instance the student who did this, they say was a popular freshman, and nobody knows why he got up and did it. He was also named as the school’s freshman homecoming prince. He injured four students, killed one, and then took his own life after the shooting. During the incident, some teachers took place in trying to stop the tragic event. With that being known those teachers are considered heroes to every one of those students. They showed strength, bravery, and courage. This article shows how everyone in an area will help stop an event that causes negative impact. If you don’t recall on September 11th, 2001, when the terrorist took over the plan and decided to go try and land the plane into the White House, all the passengers on board took action and turned the plane into The World Trade Center.

    1. I agree with your thought that people should open there eyes and realize that this tragic event can happen to any school in any town. And Matanzas has bullying just like any other school, and with the recent scare that people had at FPC with a student bringing a gun to school. I not sure if this is true but still a possibility. So if you just think about it, its not that its defiantly going to happen but it’s a possibility.

    2. I think that schools need more programs that can help students with problems in there life and they can talk to friendly people in the same situation. Nobody really goes to their guidance counselor and most of the time they don't even know where it's located. So if we had better programs i think they wouldn't go straight to shooting.

  6. Washington School Shooting/ Heroic Teacher

In Maryville, Washington at Maryville- Pilchuck High School a freshman boy was the assailant of a shooting. Jaylen Fryberg, age fifteen brought a gun to school and started shooting people he knew at lunch. Fryberg attacked his friends Shaylee "Shay" Chuckulnaskit, Gia Soriano, Zoe Galasso, and even his family, two cousins Nate Hatch and Andrew Fryberg. I cannot imagine what state of mind you would have to be in to try to kill your friends and family.

The hero we can thank for preventing numerous fatalities is a first year social studies teacher at Pilchuck High. Megan Silberberger intervened in the attack when Fryberg was reloading, said teacher Union president Randy Davis. One student, Erick Cervantes said, “I'm completely amazed by her actions and I feel for her.” Silberberger has only said, "While I am thankful and grateful for the support from everyone, at this time I am requesting privacy for myself and my family.”

I am amazed by the courage of this teacher to confront this shooter. Fryberg was shot and killed during the scuffle between himself and Silberberger. It is not clear whether Fryberg committed suicide or was shot during the scuffle. Either way, this teacher did the right thing. This whole event should have never occurred, but the assailant’s well being at that point was insignificant compared to the number of victims involved.

    1. It is very clear the pain and suffering this school is going through after the death of three high school students and two wounded, I personally think that he did take his own life during that “scuffle” while the shooter was reloading. Its so sad to thing he was drawn to the point of taking multiple of his friends lives and also his own, it leaves me to wonder what the real cause of this situation really was and how we could prevent it in the future.

    2. It is very sad what has happened at that school. No one but god will ever know what was going on in Jayden Fryberg's head the day before the shooting. Jayden was probably a good kid who was just confused. His friends probably did something to him that drove him to snap. Jayden Probably didn't have any adults to talk to about his situation and it drove me over the edge. Thank god that teacher was there to prevent more students from being hurt. It is really sad that he was a freshmen who never got to experience prom or graduation.

    3. this is mind blowing how a 15 year old freshmen boy would do this kind of thing. I know there have been a lot of these kind of things in the past couple years but I never have been able to understand them. Why anyone would do such a thing, especially to friends and family. The teacher who went after the 15 year old boy is a huge hero, she probably saved many more lives. Im sure everyone at the school is very, very thankful but if she wants privacy with her family, then she more than deserves it.

  7. Can science erase your bad memories? Memories are a very complex process. While scientists thought memories were like a filing cabinet, and each memory was stored in different parts of the brain, we now know that theory is wrong. Each memory is a brain wide process. If you end up remembering something its because the cells in your brain are being triggered and fired building new connections and links. Literally rewiring the circuitry of your mind, and this change is partially facilitated with protons in the mind. If the proteins weren’t there then some memories cant be made. We know this because scientists have tested this on animals with chemicals that prevent these proteins from forming. As a result the animals have no recollection on what took place shortly after they were given the drug. Each time you remember a memory it is altered a little reflecting your current thoughts, because remembering is an act of creation and imagining meaning the more you reflect on old memories, the less accurate they become. Since memories are formed and rebuilt every time; while recalling the memory and giving the protein inhibiting drug. The memory can be effectively erased. To test this theory, scientists took lab rats and played a sound for them followed by an electric shock. After doing this multiple time the rats quickly learned that after they heard the sound, a shock was soon to follow. As a result they would tense up and freeze every time they heard it. The same happened months after if they heard they noise. But if they gave the drug first they would loose the memory of the sound and continue on with what they were doing. To make sure it wasn’t just causing mass brain damage, scientist continued these experiments with multiple tones. A shock would follow two sounds and they would soon learn to fear the sounds like the other lab rats did, but if they gave the drug, and only played one sound they only forgot that one sound. Remaining fearful to the other. These drugs are still in they’re very early stages, but the question remains; if you were given a forgetting pill would you take it?

    1. Personally, I would never take this pill. Firstly, the pill could cause major problems in the brain. This pill could cause permanent memory loss or put strange effects on how you see the memory. You would also never be the same person. Imagine a rich; conceited man getting mugged; he humbles from the experience. Once the deletion of that memory which changed him for the better, he will become rude again and maybe even more. Some memories may be horrible, but they make you who you are.

      Delete
    2. I would never take this pill either. Memories make you the person that you are. If you can't remember any past experiences then you would be a different person.

      Delete
    3. There are many different circumstances on whether or not to take the pill. Doctors do not have the right to mess with people minds. The only way I personally would think that it is ok to erase someone’s memories is if they experienced something traumatic like seeing murder or being raped. But there are always side effects and consequences to erasing memories. Doctor may ask you to sign a waiver so that they are not responsible if anything wrong happened to you.

      Delete
    4. I would certainly never take this pill. Memories are vital for humans, good or bad. Anything could go wrong if you took the pill. I wouldn’t risk losing my memory. Bad memories define who you are. You will no longer be the same person after taking this pill. If this pill gets into the wrong hands, it could be used for crime and possibly to brainwash people. I personally think that having this pill would be much too dangerous.

      Delete
    5. Although I wouldn’t personally take this pill, I find it fascinating. I believe memories are a big part of who you are and this is something to be very conscious with, since we still don’t fully understand the brain. I do however see it being used in the future to help people with scaring and traumatic experiences, but I can also see it being used for wrong. So we not only have to make sure it doesn’t cause damage but also what it is going to be used for and who is going be able to acquire it.

      Delete
    6. I believe a pill made to forget bad memories would be a bad call. We as people are meant to learn form our past mistakes and failures. If said mistakes and failures were considered to be bad memories and were simply forgotten by taking this pill, then we would not have the benefit of learning from them and being able to change our state of mind on the current situation for the better. Lets say a guy named Bob decides to eat spaghetti with lots of garlic and unions, causing him to have bad breath before he asks out a fine woman. If he were to be rejected because of his stank breath (which there is a high probability of this happening) and then take the pill to forget about the embarrassing moment, Bob would not learn from his mistake of having bad breath before asking out fine women.

    7. What an interesting and thought-provoking topic. It reminds me of the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, starring Jim Carey and Kate Winslet. To be honest, I'm not sure if I'd take the pill or not. Right now, no--of course not; my life has been very good, even my mistakes and "bad memories." However, I haven't had a trauma that might be worth forgetting, which I am thankful for. Certainly all of our experiences make us who we are, but I'm sure at some level atrocious acts could be committed against us that are worth forgetting--things that might could be catalysts for psychological breakdowns. Very interesting topic!

    8. I believe that a pill made to forget bad memories u should not be taken due to the fact that the bad memories also teach you very important lesson that u could learn from. Memories are a big part of your life as well they are what make you whether they’re good or bad. Also I believe u shouldn’t be able to get rid of bad memories because sometimes bad memories happen and there historical like 9/11 and u shouldn’t be able to get rid of memories like that. But, this is my thought on the pill.

  8. The topic I chose was deaths from playing high school football.

There have been 8 high school players this year that have died directly and indirectly from playing football this year.
Most of the deaths came from head injuries.
The most deaths usually occur at the high school level.
Death rates have declined since they peaked in the 1970’s. High school players also suffer concussions at a higher and rate and have more injuries than college players do. Although there has been deaths and more injuries, the game is safer than it used to be and hopefully is continued to be made safer to play.

    1. I believe that high school football players are working hard and pushing them selves over their limit so they can get scholarships and make it to college. This is why I think that deaths are occurring and more injuries. But at the same I do agree that the game of football has become saver. Due to the fact that the equipment has become more advance. But also are intelligence on how to play the game so we play it better but also safer. But this is my thought on this subject.

    2. This is very interesting and it's something i didn't know. Great information you have gathered and i think this is a great topic to talk about. Yes i believe it is much safer than before. Now there is all the padding and helmet you have to protect the best they can without slowing you down.

    3. There was a post at the beginning of collage football season. UF got new helmets that are supposed to be resistant to concussions. I feel that high school should start using those to. Some adults will say that its high school ball isn’t to rough but our football player work hard, and they also get hurt. There is no safe way to play football. But there are ways to prevent thing like this happening. This all starts with training and better protection.

    4. Highschool football players get injured so often. Many boys i know have gotten concussions and have broken bones or have torn muscles. Some aren't even able to play again because of serious injuries they have acquired. They put so much effort and hard work into playing, and take it seriously. I think that they are more suseptable to death due to the previous head injuries. I think high school football has gotten safer because they use a lot of padding and they're helmets are better.

      Delete
    5. Injuries in football are very popular and not something to mess around with. I've seen the injuries of football players from this school range from minor twisted ankles, to ACL injuries requiring surgery. The padding and equipment used to protect the players aren't necessarily ineffective, but they could be better. However, the sport is a very rough, contact sport that will include injuries with incredible equipment or not. The players in high school, not even just at Matanzas, are truly dedicated to the sport and it's a bummer when they have to sit out of games due to injuries. I don't think there has been any deaths from football locally but it is sad and dangerous that it happens.

  9. The solar system’s biggest junkyard is only 20,000 miles above our heads. Higher than the highest cloud there are millions of pieces of debris. Some of the pieces are rocks from passing comets, but most of the pieces are manmade. There are many unusual things up there. In 2006 a camera floated away from astronaut Sunita Williams. In 1965 astronaut Ed White even lost a spare glove. Most of the junk comes from satellites and rockets that fall apart after they stop working. On earth the total amount of junk would weigh 11 million pounds. The largest piece of debris recorded was a part of a rocket about the size of a minivan; the smallest piece would be able to fit under your pinkie fingernail. It’s another environmental problem like water or air pollution. The junkyard is a serious danger for the future of spaceflight. The main tool of keeping track of debris is the U.S. Space Surveillance Network, which is part of the U.S. military. In 2007 the junkyard grew to over 100,000 pieces. The problem of space junk isn’t going away and scientists are watching closely. In the last 50 years we have launched thousands of satellites into space. Most satellites burn up in earth’s atmosphere; but the higher the satellite is launched the longer it will remain in earth’s orbit. Pieces of orbital junk can stay in earth’s orbit for years, decades, and even centuries.

  10. In the Islamic Republic of Iran, non-Muslims are facing prison and execution. According to a UN report, Iran’s regime are arresting Christians, and shutting down licensed churches. In April 2014, security forces reportedly raided an Easter service in a private home in southern Tehran and detained six individuals. According to the UN’s Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Right in the Islamic Republic of Iran, “At least 49 protestant Christians are currently detained, many for involvement in informal house churches.” Tehran has also taken down Christian community websites, including blocking their reception, and Christian converts have been expelled from Iranian universities. An American citizen, Saeed Abedini has spent more than two years in prison for allegedly proselytizing in Iran. Before his 2013 election, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani promised: “All ethnicities, all religions, even religious minorities, must feel justice. Long live citizenship rights!” Meir Javedanfar, an Iranian-Israeli Middle East analyst said: “Rouhani lacks the power and possibly the will to bring meaningful human rights reform to Iran. Rouhani should not have made promises. He is not a reformist.” Dwight Bashir, deputy director of policy and research at the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom says, “The state of freedom of religion in Iran is not improving, it is deteriorating.

  11. CDC Screw-up

At a Georgia-based airport, a man working with some CDC personell was seen on Wednesday while wearing no protective gear while transporting a patient infected with Ebola from a Dallas airport to Atlanta. The man works for the air ambulance company that handled the flight. Officials with Phoenix Air Group said the medical supervisor was OK to work in civilian clothes while everyone else there was wearing HAZMAT suits. Vance Ferebee, who was the medical director, said he wasn’t the clipboard-carrying official, and did not identify the man. “Protocols were followed and there were no violations,” he told The Post on Thursday. “We’re not going to make any further comments at this time.” The mystery traveler has been dubbed “clipboardguy” and on social media. Health care workers have been trained to wear protective gear whenever they treat Ebola. This man was wearing sunglasses, a long-sleeved shirt and dark pants but no protective gear. Directly the opposite from everyone else on the runway, as the 29-year-old Dallas nurse Amber Vinson was transported. Another Phoenix Air rep said that there’s a reason at least one person on a medical crew should not wear a HAZMAT suit. “One of the three people on the medical team are the others eyes and ears,” Phoenix Air’s vice president told the Dallas Morning News. “They know how far to stay away from the patient.” The crew in hazmat suits have very little peripheral vision, and no sense of smell and limited hearing, making the one person not in a HAZMAT suit all the more important. “They also serve that role in medical transports,” he said. “They are the eyes and ears of the our medical team. Someone has to have their full senses working all the time and you cannot do that if they are inside the suit.” The clipboard-carrying official didn’t appear to make any contact with the Ebola patient, Vinson, while on the ground. News footage showed the man handing a canister and trash bags out to personnel in HAZMAT suits. He reportedly got into the plane with Vinson and was spotted on the other end in Atlanta, as she was loaded into an ambulance and taken to Emory University Hospital. The mystery man however did not get into the ambulance. Vinson had reportedly contacted the CDC a day before. She had recently returned from Africa and wanted to know if it was okay for her to travel. According to her, the CDC said yes.

  12. Lebron choice of going to the cavs I feel as if it was a horrible decision due to the fact that he had won two championships back to back. Also, he was being paid the most out of all the Miami heat players. Plus him, dwade, and bosh were one of the best duos to play throughout 2013-2014. But, once they lose to the spurs he decide to opt out off his contract and become a free agent. After, that decision he decides to go back to the Cleveland cavaliers but why is my question. Its states in his article “I’M COMING HOME,” lebrons said his choice of moving to Cleveland was his family and that he wanted to rise his kids in the same environment that he grew up playing ball. Well what does that have to do with you playing ball and you being successful? Lebron also said he want to live in akron Ohio so he could be the image for the kids growing up like he had to but I dnt understand how this will help his career and there was also kid in Miami that were looking up to lebron. Whether your opinion is that it wasn’t a bad idea or it was,my opinion is that it was bad.

    1. Diovanni Quinones I agree with you bro, because they made to the NBA Championship back to back, I still don’t understand why he left, I am from Miami so I mean I was confused to see him leave. With Lebron on the team they made to the NBA finals 4 years in a row, and he was great I really didn’t notice Lebron James until he was on the Miami Heat. The Miami Heat Actually won 2 championships out of the 4 for times they went the NBA Finals, I thought after last year they would try to get better players or people from NCAA something, I never would of thought that that he would leave.

    2. I feel the same way. Lebron should have stayed with Miami Heat. He would have had better opportunities to win championships. The only good thing about him being on Cleveland is that he will have a greater chance of being mvp. But he doesn't have any help on Cleveland. If he was having trouble running the ball up he could pass it to Dwyane Wade or down low to Chris Bosh. On Cleveland he doesn't have much help.

    3. I agree with you diovanni . He should've stayed because it would've opened more opportunities for him. Also if he would've stayed he would've played with the rookie shabazz napier at the point guard position. Also the fact that he won 2 rings there he could've won another ring there. Cause the team chemistry there is good. The fact he left the heat won't be a good . i totally agree with you bro.

  13. Cell transplant allows paralyzed man to walk again

A Polish man, Darek Fidyka has been paralyzed chest down since 2010 due to a 8mm gap in his spinal cord. He can now walk with aid after two years of the cell transplant developed at the University College London. In the transplant they would take out the olfactory ensheathing cells (OEC, which allow the sense of smell to return when nerve cells are damaged) from the olfactory bulb high in the nasal cavity (base of brain), inject it above and below the gap and then add nerve tissue from his ankle to be a bridge for spinal nerves. But Darek Fidyka isn’t the only one who has been treated, 4 others in the US can now move their legs again. OEC transplantation shows cases of the possibility of reversing paralysis. In fact Geoffrey Raisman even states that it’s “more impressive then man walking on the moon”. This has opened many doors for regeneration; I believe it as made a big step for the future and hope it will become more available for everyone soon. Who knows what we could advance with this knowledge, I’m excited for what comes in store with this newfound discovery.

I could only imagine what its like to not be able to feel your legs or walk and the feeling of being able to again. The fact that its worked on not one but five people is pretty impressive. By the time this generations kids become adults, this could become a normal thing and all people would be able to walk again.

It shows just how far we have come in the medical field, and this is only the beginning in more years to come we could have the technology to fix so many more worldly problems. It could be mental or it could be physically. Like finding a better treatment for cancer or different ways to have an MRI. All of this technology is becoming a big part in helping people. And it will only become better from here.

  14. Jacob Savage Current Event English 2 Period 1

My current event is about the loss of Oscar Tavares, A player on the Cardinals.

Oscar Tavares was only 22 years old and he was going on to be a star in the MLB.
He is a native of the Dominican Republic. He was ranked with some of the best young players in the game. Yesterday in Dominican Republic he died in a car crash with his girlfriend Edilia Arvelo who was only 18 years old. He had so much talent. He was signed by St. Louis in 2008 at age 16. He died during the World Series. He would have been in the World Series one day. He has been a top prospect of the past several seasons. He was heading to his hometown of Sosua in Dominican Republic when the accident happened. The good people always die young. During one of his last at-bats of his career he hit a homerun. Oscar had a good future in front of him.
Its crazy how one accident can ruin everything. You should never take the people you love for granted because they could be gone at any time. A lot of MLB players are coming together to show Oscar respect whether they played with him or not.
It sucks to see young talent go so soon. I had a very good friend take his own life last year, I know how it feels to lose someone. He also played sports. Rest in Peace Oscar Tavares.

    3. This article was very interesting and tragic. Oscar had excellent talent as a MLB player. It was depressing to see Oscar die at a young age. Just one accident destroyed his whole career at a MLB player. Oscar had potential at his age and excelled in many areas in his MLB career. He was close to achieving his one goal in his life, until it got taken away from him. His family must have been sad to see him die before accomplishing his dream.

He had plenty of potential and the fact that he was so young just makes it a lot worse.

With the items that this ship is carrying could help us tremendously with developing more complex solar cells and semi-conductor based electrons.

The ship was holding 1.5 tons of samples from the international space station. A boat carried the ship to a port in Los Angeles. Once they arrive to the NASA Headquarters they will remove all the samples. After the materials are removed they will return it to the Space Agency for further examination and testing. If the materials are what they’re supposed to be it could improve fertilizer and speed up plant growth. This mission has enabled and has made it possible for NASA’s goal of long-term deep space duration.

  16. For my current event essay I’m going to write about the shooting that occurred in Marysville-Pilchuck High School in Washington. It said that a popular 14-year-old freshman opened fire with a handgun in the cafeteria on Friday during lunch, the student’s name was Jaylen Fryberg, students say that he is a well liked person and popular for playing football and was crowned homecoming prince. The article that I read said that he shot about 5 victims and 2 of them were his cousins and later shooting himself.

The very reason he did this is because of love, yes love can make you do crazy things and it can sometimes get too far. The suspect was devastated when he ask a girl to be his girlfriend, but she didn’t accept it and said she is in love with his cousin, who is very close to him. In an act of jealousy he texted his cousins and his love interest to come to the cafeteria to “talk” to them, thinking it something important they all went to the cafeteria. Once they got there the suspect goes to the table (where they were sitting) and starts shooting them with a handgun, the victims were badly injured, after that he shot himself.

It is devastating to be rejected by the one you love, but it’s alright there are a lot of fishes in the sea, if you really like someone that much try to get to know them better and try to woo him/her. What the suspect did is not an act of true love but an act of jealousy. This kind of chaos will not solve anything, if I were in his shoes I would’ve just let go and try to meet someone else. Kids these days are getting more and more violent, either because of video games, television, etc. I can’t imagine the horror that happened in that school, it was really stupid of the suspect to do that and all because he got rejected.

From the 5 victims 3 of them are dead and they were girls, the other 2 victims are boys and his cousins they were injured and their families are waiting for their full recovery. It was really happy to me when the community helped the students with a memorial for the dead victims, showing to the students that they are there to help them and they are not alone. It was really sad to see the friends and family to the victims that died, I know what it feels to lost someone you love its doesn’t feel good I tell you.

The parent/guardian should have been more concerned on how is he doing at school. This chaos would have happened if they did not tell him where the gun is located in the house, I mean how could he found out where it was if somebody didn't tell him about it. They should've hidden the gun somewhere he will not look, if they did then this chaos will not occur.

    1. You have made an excellent point about how love can make people do crazy things, which I completely agree with. The part of the argument I do not agree with involves when you stated how the situation could have been avoided if the students parents did not tell him where the gun was. Even though the gun did come from his house, it is uncertain whether his parents told him where the gun was hidden or if he found it for himself. I believe that sense love does make you do crazy things, the shooting still could have occurred even if there was not a gun at his house. In his state of mind, the student could of even used a knife or other weapon instead of a gun to attack his cousins and classmates if there was no gun available. Nevertheless, I do respect your opinion and thank you for your comment.

  18. 10 misconceptions rundown

Its true that if you want to see an object from space, the object would have to b very big, But I didn’t know that the great wall of China was 5,000 miles. How is it only 30 feet across its widest. Did the Chinese or whoever built the massive build it in a time of desperation? I think they built it to mark like a border line. The thing about getting arthritis by cracking my knuckles is really good to know because I don’t get arthritis if I crack my knuckles, but yes often times it is annoying. I thought everyone needed at least 8 glasses of water a day, but the video says otherwise, and quick question is not over-hydration technically drowning? Okay about the water thing, I think will stay to drinking to soda, because what is the point of going to buy a bottle or a pack of water bottles when the water companies just put tap water in a bottle and say it is better than tap water.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I agree with you that drowning and over hydration are the same thing. i also agree that paying for bottled water is pointless and a waste of money. Because it is just water that comes out of the faucet so why pay money for it when i could just buy a refillable water bottle and save money. Since you can get the same water any where and just put it in a bottle yourself. The last thing that i agree with you on is that it is annoying when people crack their knuckles.

  19. My current events article post is about the elaboration on whether ‘US Military Bases and Embassies are considered American Soil’ by CGP Gray on YouTube. The narration explains in just under a minute (59 seconds) how contrary to popular belief, US embassies and military bases on foreign lands are not considered American soil but do come pretty close, meaning that these bases do not follow the same set of rules as the land they occupy but are still on foreign territory. The video is short and sweet, including comical and sarcastic commentary to keep the show interesting and fun to watch. For example: not only were there well-researched, informative commentary, but also illustrations of cartoony stick stick figures to help express his point and pictures to match. I agree with his point of bases and embassies not being considered American soil because they are just renting a small section of the land rather then owning the area itself (the situation can be best applied to when renting out an apartment in an apartment complex). The show was informative and well thought out. I will continue to view the series not only for further current events postings but for recreational use as well.

In my opinion I think they should be allowed to use American "rules/laws" even though we do not directly own that piece of land. Because how can you have An American Embassy that does not Obey American Regulations and laws? after all they are representing the country. That is why I think Contrary to the land not being ours that we can use our own laws on these pieces of land.

  20. The article I read was about a 5-year-old girl in Alabama being put on suicide and homicide watch after she pointed a crayon at a kindergarten classmate and said "pew! pew!". I feel Alabama is being way too alarmist about the situation. Although there have been a lot of stories in the news about young people being suicidal I think calling an innocent 5-year-old suicidal is taking things way too far. The article said that the girl was forced to sign a contracting promising she wouldn’t harm herself or her classmates. I don’t understand how they could make a 5-year-old sign a contract that she doesn’t understand and that contains words she has never heard before. I believe her family has every right to be livid about the situation. There are plenty of other ways the school could have handled the situation years from now the little girl probably won’t even remember what happened.

    1. I think this article steals my attention. I believe that Alabama took that incident way too far. Most 5 year olds don’t even know about suicide. They didn’t take this and look at all aspects. Maybe she saw a show and began doing as she saw. She could have been just playing along like the other kids. I do believe that suicide and homicide watch is a little bit too extreme for a simple 5 year old who was probably just kidding around.

    2. I agree with Kiara Hines, it grabbed my attention as well and to think that people actually thought of an idea like that from a 5 year old girl because she did something like that. She could have been watching television show before that or just playing around but either way, those people just took it a little bit to far.

    3. That’s crazy! Children in America play violent video games and other stuff all the time, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I am just saying that Andy from Toy story said the same thing while playing with toys. I just think it’s funny how a something as simple as a crayon could cause such a “threat” to our society. The government of Alabama probably has nothing better to do other than give five year olds contracts.

      Delete
    4. I agree with you, I think its insane to make a 5 year old sign a contract saying she wouldn't kill herself. When she grows up the chances are she won't even remember what happened. If she just so happened to want to kill herself when she's older how would a contract really stop her from doing it. Theres so many shows kids watch that has many people doing violent things and killing themselves or others. no wonder the little girl did that, she probably saw something like it on TV.

    5. I agree with Katelyn as well. She’s a 5 YEAR OLD GIRL! I’m pretty sure everyone has at least done that once in their life, pretending to shoot something with a toy or a stick. I’m pretty sure she didn’t mean it in a threating way; no one really does at that age. I feel like her family should do something about this nonsense, and yes she might not even remember this in a few years with what happened. Which means its not fair and should not be anything to worry about.

  21. On October 24 , two die in a high school shooting. Jaylen Fryberg, the 14 shooter, opened fire in the cafeteria of Washington high school. He pulled out his handgun and started shooting at two close friends. He killed one student and injured four others before killing himself. Two of the wounded students were his cousins! Officials have not yet identified the female student killed from the shooting. People like this tick me off. His cousins where intentionally targeted in the attack. The article I got this from does not state why. This is very sad. It makes you wonder what this kid went through to go and shoot people and himself. And the fact that officials could not identify the dead female is disgusting because that means he distorted her face so much from shooting her that they cant even recognize her. It seems to me that there is a huge gap in communicating problems with this generation. This could have been prevented if He spoke out for help. But there is something that has kept him. My question is Why? Within the first few weeks of 2014, 14 School shootings have occurred! Active school shootings are on the rise. Is it possible that the Gap between teenagers and “help” is growing? Now it makes you wonder, Are teenagers not reaching for help; or is help not being offered. If I am correct, most schools do have a psychiatrist. Who’s fault is it for this lack of communicating, can it be addressed? The article does not address whether or not Jaylen had a mental disability. Which could explain it if he broke out of nowhere. But it doesn’t say he had any mental disabilities. So the factor that looks most responsible to me would be not telling peers or adults, People ignoring warning signs ect. So the question I have for you guys (the readers) Is why? If anyone wants to shed light on why this kid did it.

  22. My comment is about the deaths of high school football players. Players in a high school level have sustained more injuries than people who play in college. All though there have been deaths it is still a safer game than it used to be years ago. The deaths have been mostly from head injuries that the players got when the were tackled or tackling another player. But another way players are in danger is being dehydrated or heat stroke which are both very dangerous and every one who plays any sport should be cautious of them. Even though the game is still dangerous it has been made safer over the years and is still being made safer even now to protect those who play it from serious injury or more deaths.

    1. Yes, football can be a dangerous sport, but I feel like it could be made safer not just by upgrading equipment, but by also playing differently. They use their head to tackle another player, they should use different parts of the body as well. Being dehydrated can also be dangerous but coaches should enforce it more before the player is allowed to get back out on the field.

What my current event article is about is Ebola. Ebola has been talked about quite a lot now but one of the things that I had seen about the Ebola Virus was very interesting to me and it had to deal with birds. I would have never thought that Ebola would come down to birds from what is being told. Ebola shares a closer relationship with several bird viruses than was previously thought, bolstering the case for a common ancestor and hinting that birds might carry the deadly virus, at least that is what a Purdue University research team reports. David Sanders and his research group have discovered that the outer protein shell of Ebola has a biochemical structure similar to several retroviruses carried by birds. As scientists had known previously of genetic similarity among the viruses, this discovery makes a common evolutionary origin even more likely. It also suggests that Ebola could be spread to human populations by birds as well. Since its discovery in 1976, Ebola has been responsible for hundreds of deaths in central Africa. Though the source of the virus in nature remains unknown, both humans and monkeys appear susceptible. Death rates of between 50 percent and 90 percent are common during outbreaks. With all of the information that I read and putting all of it together it just seemed really interesting to me for the fact that everybody has there own information about what is going on with the Ebola Virus right now and once I saw some information including birds, that is when it made me want to read it.

(The research appears in Sunday's (12/15) Journal of Virology. Two contributors to the group's research are Scott Jeffers, a graduate student in Sanders' laboratory, and Anthony Sanchez, an Ebola virus expert at the Centers for Disease Control.)

  25. This article was about how a teen started a shooting at a school. Family members and friends think it was over a girl. Friends say the boy asked a girl out but she rejected because she was with his cousin. He killed one girl and injured to female students and two male students. Both males being his cousin. After all of this occurred he then killed himself. Also the shooting happened in the cafeteria. A teacher and a cafeteria worker tried to stop him in all of this commotion. The two girls are in intensive care with critical head injuries. One boy is in critical condition and the other is in serious condition. Many say everybody liked the freshman. He played on the football team and was also crowned homecoming prince. The football team he was supposed to play for a division title forfeited. They had a meeting with the kids and talked to the coaches about the forfeit and agreed it was the right thing to do after what happened. The week after the incident classes were cancelled. Many people still don’t have any idea what the motive was. There was a vigil, which contained students and community members.

  26. In this day and age, we depend on our technology to provide us with most of our information. We no longer read News Papers to get information on what’s going on in the world, now we just type in a simple URL and we have all the info we need.
We no longer go to local places to hear about all the gossip that’s going on, now we just go on Twitter or Facebook to see all the drama. Instead of going into stores and buy things ourselves, we now can order those things online and have them shipped to our homes within a couple of days. The Internet of Things also known, as “IOT” is not an idea, it’s already reality, we just don’t know it yet. Today we have over 2 billion things connected to the Internet, those things include: Tablets, Computers, Smartphones, Smart Watches, and Gaming Consoles. The Internet of Things is the concept of connecting: Tablets, Computers, Smartphones, Smart Watches, Gaming Consoles, Traffic Cameras, Airplanes, Thermostats, Automobiles, Kitchen Appliances, Lights, Exercise equipment, Stereos, Smoke Alarms, Eye glasses, And almost everything we use in our everyday lives will be connected to the internet.
For Example, say you went to the Gym and exercised for a hour and you get home and you’re hungry; you walk to your refrigerator, your refrigerator will recommend you (literally speak to you) what to eat based upon how many calories you burned during your exercise. Or it will tell you what you can make based upon what’s in your fridge. The Internet of Things is projected to be worth 19 trillion dollars by 2025 and is also projected to have over 200 billion things connected to it by 2025.

These are 2 good videos to give you a better look at IOT:

Using computers, iPads or other sources of technology is a more faster approach to obtain information about news. The Internet will give you accurate information about anything you want to look up. The Internet is used in our every day lives. Some people use the Internet for traveling, planning, categorizing current events, and other web surfing ideas.

    2. I agree, i think the technology over our generations has increased. Its made people some what lazy. People would no longer need to go anywhere to do anything. You want to eat food, all you have to do is call and place an order. Also if you needed clothing, house appliances, any technology, you can order it off of one of the many websites on the internet. People are more focused on technology than what is going on around them and it has made our generations over the past few years lazy and obese.

  27. The Selfish Mother

The article I read about was written by a therapist, talking about the characteristics of a selfish mother. Most likely, the mother will have a scapegoat child and a golden child. The scapegoat child is the one the mother uses to make herself feel better about her. She will often talk down to the scapegoat and that makes it harder for the scapegoat to live in that environment. The scapegoats usually become very independent. The golden child is treated like the king/queen. They have everything handed to them, which in turn makes them dependent. For example, the mother is supposed to take her children school shopping, she makes sure one child is set, but when the other child needs cloths or pencils, “there isn’t enough money left.” The next week the mother purchases herself some new clothes and shoes. This is an example of a selfish mother. Selfish mothers also tend to abuse the scapegoat. Whether it’s verbal or physical, neglect especially from the mother to a child will be harmful for that child’s future relationships. Lots of times the mother was treated badly as well in her childhood therefore it gets passed on from generation to generation.

  28. Last weekend Saturday November 8th; there was an event that probable not a lot of people knew about. This event was actually most likely the most important event that could have been going on in you weekend. This event was calling the annual woman’s AMVETS garage sale. They have 5 or 6 of these events per year; these events are for charity and charity only. This program has supported many charities such as, stuff the buss, whispering meows ranch, and Flagler human society. This exact event supported the wended warriors. It is not like these women take some of the money and profit it. When they hold one of these events all of there earnings go directly to the charity. Also all of this is staying in our county! That is one of the best thing that you can do is support where your from and keep the money in your community.

  30. My article is about the unknown submarine in the Baltic reign. Sweden’s people have had something to fear since Friday. A submarine from an unknown country has been moving and resting in the Baltic reign. Many people have been scared of this because Sweden naval ships have been searching for this naval submarine and this event has people remembering the Cold War. A certain event in 1981 has people gasping at the resemblance.

In 1981 a Soviet submarine had become stranded off the coast of Sweden. No biggy except the sub was carrying armed nuclear weapons. For almost two weeks Sweden refused to let the submarine go. In the end Sweden did let it go home. But this recent scene has people thrown into fear because they are thinking of the past.

I think that the whole Baltic reign has something to fear. I think that they should fear another cold war. Everyone in that particular reign was a former Soviet Union member. With Russia taking over Ukraine’s Crimea reign, clearly showing that Russia is a force to be reckoned with. Russia could be making a statement that they may use in the future.

The first sighting of this mysterious submarine was on November 7, 2014.

Hopefully the deer is fine, it is also the towns fault because deer don't usually see pumpkins so they should try everything they can to find the poor deer.

“Sexting isn’t all bad the expert argues”

This is more than ridiculous, to say the least! Give me a break, "Consensual" sexting! Get Real people! NO Sexting is safe, good or innocent in any way at all! First of all any one that Sext's has got to be so desperate for the opposite sex to pay attention to them! This act of Sexting is more than degrading and kids should be taught this valuable lesson by, of all people, "their parents"!! There is "nothing" private about it! Any one and every one that knows how to use a computer can tap into your phone and this day and age if you don't believe me, your fooling yourself! Nothing is private any more! And NO child should "lower" his or herself to this degrading act! Sexting is going to stay with you for the rest of your life! It will always be out there some where and some place and believe me, it's easy to find and it really does not take a lot of brains to do it! With the way the past few generations have been trained on computer knowledge and spend most of their time on computers, this knowledge just goes along with it! Sexting can and does come back to haunt people and not for the better! Think before you do such things and no one but no one...especially a college professor should state that consensual sexting is fine!

    1. You can’t be too harsh on people that sext because often times they do it to feel better about themselves. As bad as sexting is, and I’m not saying I agree with it, but if you are sexting or sending pictures to your significant other it shouldn’t be as big of a deal unless you are a pedophile. I mean you were not born with clothes on, I have seen worse in science class. I also think that what you do in your free time shouldn’t go against you, as long as it’s not affecting your work ethic or education, it shouldn’t matter.

    2. In my personal opinion I agree with you and see your point on Sexting, But its also crazy to think that there have been cases where kids have gotten arrested and charged for this act. I think that is a little extreme and there has to be a better consequence because these kids I have researched are only 14-15 years old that now has a title as “sex offender” to me that is ridiculous and there has to be a better solution.

  33. My article is about the TLC’s “Cake Boss” Arrested on DWI Chargers in Manhattan: NYPD, on the nbc new york website (http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Cake-Boss-Buddy-Valastro-Arrested-DWI-Manhattan-10th-Avenue-282545541.html) . It was a regular Thursday morning when the star of ‘Cake Boss’, Buddy Valastro, was charged with drunk driving. He was on 10th street Avenue near Hudson Yards when, police noticed him swerving in his 2014 Corvette, heading north between 20th and 32nd streets. Apparently Buddy was unsteady on his feet when he got out of his yellow car, with bloodshot eyes and a drained face. He failed the Breathalyzer test and was taken away to the station. This article was so important to me because it shows that no matter what you have, everyone has his or her downfalls and that no one is perfect. Buddy can have anything he’s ever imagined but being drunk and driving shows that something in his life isn’t going right. That makes me think about people in the world that drinks away their problems, apparently money can’t solve everything.

Her whole body was shown and there has been lots of talk on twitter and other social media sites discussing her body. The talk has been wether or not that was a smart move for Kim considering she has a child. People are also saying that it doesn't matter because she did get famous off of a sex tape. 36. GOP Congress could boost U.S. Economy

Based on the Sunday November 9th 2014 News journal, the heading “GOP Could Boost the U.S. Economy” grabbed my attention. Below this heading were significant topics pertaining to the growth of the U.S. economy. The topics were: “Go Big on Immigration”, “Boost Energy Boom”, and “Open up Foreign Markets”.
According to Douglas Holtz Eakin, he believes that the economy in the U.S. would benefit greatly if more people in the workforce given visa and legal status. He added that the economy would grow tremendously. Furthermore, it attracts professionals from abroad such as doctors, engineers, and scientists. These people contribute more money to the country because they have high paying occupations to the economy.
On the other subject of boosting energy and natural gas, the Republican senate came up with two actions to uplift the economy. One action was to push President Obama to ban the exporting oil from other countries. Secondly, they could make a deal to construct the XL Keystone pipeline. This pipeline transports oil from Canada to it’s refineries along the Gulf of Mexico. President Obama is yet to approve the pipeline’s construction.
The last topic was the opening of foreign markets. Economists believe that the country should enter in trade deals in opening markets for goods made in America from the country of Malaysia to Peru. This partnership would require the assistance of Republican senate and President Obama to make this happen. Based on the economists’ perspective, the economy would expand to receiving a boost of 77.5 billion dollars in the year 2025 in this trade deal market.

  37. Some girls begin to do things on their own due to certain treatment or past experience. Some girls feel that they are neglected or abandoned by those who love them and life gets hard. Therefore, they go off and do things in the world that they may regret. However, there could be a change in the problem. The solution to this issue could be birth control or safe-sex education. Yes teenage pregnancy is an accident at times.
Teens need to start opening up to their parents and talk things out. In todays world, you cant really trust anyone and I think that is some of the issue is because trusting people, even parents now a days, is one of the hardest things in life. They could start asking about birth control and other solutions to prevent teenage pregnancy. It would be easier to do instead of telling parents they are pregnant because usually now if you tell your parents your pregnant they want to start disowning and even kick them out of the household with no where to go.Having a child can drastically change a teen's life. The teen would need a job because lots of money would be needed. I'm sure no teenage girl plans to go through a situation like this, but sometimes life gets hard and bad decisions come upon her life. My opinion, I believe accidents do happen. They could have been protected with everything they could have been and it still happen its just the luck you have. If a girl does become pregnant at a young age, no one should judge because you may not know what there situation is. But, if you don’t want to be pregnant at a young age, then you should be able to open up and ask someone for protection so the accident pregnancy does not happen.

What Snapsave does is give the ability to save incoming photos without the other person knowing, so any one could be in the 200,000 photos that were taken. Further more to try and fix this privacy problem on CNN News “Snapchat now warns you if another app saves your photo” starting this week the photo-sharing app will warn you if another app on your phone is saving your pictures, also they have made it that if the person using the third-party app tries to log in he/she will have to change there password and if he/she doesn’t there account will be locked out. I feel like it needed to happen, they needed to have better privacy, this doesn’t change the fact that so many peoples photos are out there and could be all over the Internet.

The deaths by Isis have increased rapidly. Since june there has been 104 Isis attacks total. In January the group Isis has been responsible for 47 fatalities. Starting in june the month Isis unfurled the its’s black baaners in moshul. The monthly dead toll has been risen by Isis it has remained in the triple-digits in the past couple months. JTIC counted at least 270 isis-caused fatalities since it started. Isis has become a huge problem to the u.s. and to every country in the world. Many have thought that the Isis group will have terriost attacks on other countries in the world besides its own. I’m not positive who their leader is but that person should be found and stopped before Isis starts terrizing other countries. Isis is a very big problem that needs to be solved.

The 23-year-old, who has not been named, told police he had gone to the university's barn after a night of heavy drinking because he was under pressure with a major midterm exam in the near future. He claimed his cruel plan was to beat up some cows in the strange hope to let off steam but was found by police officers lying on top of the sheep with his underpants down. The fifth-year computer engineering student's plans were overheard by a classmate at Fresno State University, in California, who reported the upcoming trouble to the authorities. Another student, a female who lived in a dormitory room near the 'Sheep Unit', heard strange noises coming from the barn at around 3.30am before police found the suspect having intercourse with one of the ewes last Tuesday. Student Marisa Burkdoll reportedly told ABC7 Los Angeles news channel: "It's just kind of disgusting and revolting and personally makes me angry, I mean why would you do that?". Vets are now keeping a close eye on the sheep at the farm after the disturbing incident. The student was charged with sexual assault of an animal but has since been released from jail, according to SFGate. Californian law states that “any person who sexually assaults any animal protected by Section 597f for the purpose of arousing or gratifying the sexual desire of the person is guilty of a misdemeanor.”

The article "Attack of the glitter-green bug" starts off by informing readers that a small bug from China (known as the Emerald Ash Borer) is expected to kill all ash trees in the eastern United States. When the bugs lay eggs, it kills off all of the nutrients the tree needs to survive. The bugs were first spotted in 2002 . Scientist believe it arrived by boat on wooden containers. They are concerned because they think the bugs may also like the white fringe tree, which is in the same family as the ash tree. A college professor who was on a walk and decided to examine a fringe tree made the discovery. The fringe trees that the bugs have been spotted on are located in Ohio, where very few Ash trees remain. Some people think that the bugs were just sampling the tree because they couldn’t find any ash trees, which leads them to think that the bugs will not be going after fringe trees. Borers are now traveling to Pennsylvania and New Jersey, where there are not a lot of fringe trees. A Pennsylvania expert says he isn’t concerned yet, its just something to “Keep a lookout for”.

While he was waiting for his next victim he heard I noise in the brush ahead of him, “he was hoping to catch a bull. When he walked up, he quickly realized that it was in fact not a moose, but a box of 20 newborn puppies”. Zubiak covered the puppies in anything he could, it was freezing out and god only knows how long they were left out there alone. He took them to a humane society in battlefords. “Since word got out about the pups, the shelter has received an overwhelming amount of help including new volunteers, food, teddy bears, extra kennels and money for the vet costs. Some of the staff are even considering taking some of the puppies home when they’re well and ready.” This is the best thing I have ever read. This man could have left these puppies out in the wild to die, but he did everything he could to save them. Animal abuse is the bigges pet peeve I have and I cannot believe someone would leave 20 puppies out in the wild. That’s like leaving 20 babies out in the freezing and expecting them to survive, no one would do that so why do it to puppies. Dogs are people too.

I wouldn't compare puppies to human babies though. Human babies are valued more because they are what we were. Many people view animals as animals. I like dogs but I honestly would not value their as much as my fellow human beings. If I had to choose to save a dog or a person, it would be the person.

  44. Global warming is a gradual increase of temperature in the earth’s atmosphere. Global warming is believed to be a permanent change to earth’s climate. Many people believe global warming is not real, but climate scientists looking at the data believe that the planet is warming. Some people view the effects of global warming to be more rapid than how other people see it. The average temperature of earth has raised .4 and .8 degrees Celsius over the past 100 years. The increased volumes of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases released by the burning of fossil fuels, land clearing, agriculture, and other human activities, are believed to be the primary sources of the global warming that has occurred over the past 50 years. Recent global warming research has predicted that the average temperature will rise 1.4 to 5.8 degrees Celsius by the year 2100. Changes resulting from global warming may include rising sea levels due to the melting of the polar ice caps, as well as an increase in occurrence and severity of storms and other weather events. You can expect a 50 percent increase of lightning strikes by the year 2100 due to a continuous increase in temperature from greenhouse gas emissions.

Here in America we are a rather clean country compared to everywhere else, We shower at least once a day sometimes even twice. In the first place why would you be okay with the killing of babies? It’s wrong to kill a baby whether it’s alive or not. Even if the baby is unborn its still considered a human being according to the united states government. He was a bright spot in an otherwise dismal season for the White Sox. With both Abreu and Chris Sale early in their careers, the White Sox have a chance to build a winner around their two stars.

In the National League, Jacob deGrom took home the Robinson honor. He won 26 of the 30 first place votes, easily beating out Billy Hamilton. deGrom struck out 144 in 140 innings, while allowing just seven home runs. Hamilton’s value was almost all in his defense, and it is my guess that the writers are not comfortable enough with the latest defensive metrics to make the case for the award based on that. Hamilton got on base at just a .292 clip, pretty poor for a lead-off hitter. He might have made up for that with great base stealing, but his 56 for 79, 70.8%, was good but not outstanding. With that low an OBP, a player can’t afford to give away another 23 outs.

“Separated at birth, reunited on Facebook.”

My article is about a pair of twins who were separated from each other at birth, and were adopted out to two different families, on different parts of the world. Anais Bordier and Samantha Futerman were reunited at the age of twenty-six. Anais is a fashion designer in training, and is studying in London’ as Samantha is an actress who grew up in Verona, New Jersey.
The article explained how Anais first found Samantha, and how they’ve come to realize that they were in fact twins. Afterwards, they talked on Skype for hours and sent text messages throughout the day. And when they finally met in London, both families informed each other that they were not informed that Anais or Samantha had a twin, and was marked “Single Birth” on both certificates. They also discovered many similarities about one another, such as how they both hate carrots; they have the same laugh, and freckles on their cheeks.
After reading this I believe that it’s wonderful that these two long sisters were brought back together again. And how they can spend the rest of their lives together, bonding and growing their sisterly love.

  51. My Current Event Article is about Vsauces video of “Why Are Things Creepy”

In this video Michael talks about why we find things creepy, one of the facts he pulls up is terror, and in that he says “The third: ‘Terror’, is different from the last two, it’s different from being grossed out, and horror, that it’s creepier.” In Stephen King’s mind terror is coming home when an exact copy, a replica, replaces everything, or when something is breathing down your neck and it feels as if something is directly behind you, but the second you turn around, nothing is there. Another fact that Michael uses is masks and why clowns can creep us out. The mask covers their face, it hides their facial feelings so we don’t really know what it is they’re truly thinking, even a happy mask can be creep because of its ambiguity. Then there are things where, it’s human, but it’s also not human, in short the Uncanny Valley, also talked about in this video. The Uncanny Valley is basically where, something looks human but it isn’t i.e. an android, but it isn’t to the point where it’s undistinguishable or where you can exactly tell what it is. Michael goes into what ambiguity is, or well, he explains how it works, like when it involves our own intentions it can make us lie, but if it involves some type of danger but no exact threat to analyze, it makes us think and feel things that normally aren’t that, like standing on some type of high ledge could make you feel as if you want to jump off, or makes you feel like you just want to fall, as if you want to fill in some type of curiosity, this also takes effect if you’re sitting on a ledge with someone else, sometimes you realize and get a feeling that you can push that person off, even if you don’t truly think that way, it’s how your mind works, it’s survivability instincts kicks in, like when you go towards a high area you start to feel as if something is pushing you the way you came but nothings there, no clear definite object or person able to push you, what it is, is your minds trying to say “Hey let’s go back, it looks pretty dangerous” but your balance as well as your motor skills aren’t really processing it all the way making you believe that there’s something pushing you, this is know as the High Place Phenomenon.

  52. For my current event I’m posting this

“He faced execution for failure to perform. But Benjy, the gay bull of Ireland, has been saved following a worldwide appeal backed by "The Simpsons" co-creator Sam Simon.
Ireland's Animal Rights Action Network said Tuesday that Simon is paying for Benjy's transportation to an animal sanctuary in England. Simon, who is battling colon cancer, has been giving away much of the fortune from his television career and is a leading donor to animal welfare causes.
Benjy, a Charlerois bull, failed this year to impregnate any heifers at a County Mayo farm in western Ireland. Veterinarians determined he was fertile, but was more attracted to the bull that replaced him.
After the farmer announced he planned to send Benjy to an abattoir, activists last week launched a social media campaign seeking 5,000 pounds ($7,825) to send the bull to the Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norfolk, England, which is home for about 2,000 unwanted farm animals and horses. About 300 donors contributed 4,000 British pounds ($6,200) to an ongoing fundraising drive organized by the British online magazine TheGayUK.
Simon, who funds a Malibu dog shelter and many other animal rights projects, said he heard about Benjy's case through friends at the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals pressure group. He said he was happy to donate the full original cash target to buy Benjy and ship him to England.
"All animals have a dire destiny in the meat trade, but to kill this bull because he's gay would've been a double tragedy," Simon said in a statement. "It thrills me to help PETA and ARAN make Benjy's fate a sanctuary rather than a sandwich."
ARAN campaigns director John Carmody said Simon and other donors were buying the bull "a one-way ticket to freedom."

I find this article interesting because not only is same sex discriminated in society but apparently animals too I think this is an idiotic way to raise farm animals and we live in an incredibly homophobic society.

  53. On August 26, 2014 a superintendent at a high school is under fire for making girls bend over to enforce the schools dress code, and calling then “ skanks “ due to their shorts and skirts. I believe that this superintendent does deserve to be fired as a superintendent because her actions and words were totally unnecessary and uncalled for. I understand that their shorts and skirts are against dress code but I don’t think you need to have them bend over for no reason, some girls went home crying out of humiliation because of this superintendent. No one should be able to have to do this. If I was them, I would have refused to do so, so in a way I feel like it’s their fault for going along with what she was asking them to do. They should have just refused and told another adult of her actions, preferably the principle or dean.

In an interview with the superintendent she asked students who were in her office, “ have ya’ll ever seen any skanks in this school? “ and after asking this question she even asked the girls to bend over and if they didn’t feel comfortable with that then they have a big problem. She really should be fire in my opinion for disrespecting the students of that school.

The hackers have posted info 4.6 million snap chat user names and at least partial phone numbers available for downloading. The hackers said that their reason for hacking in to snap chat was just to raise awareness that the security on the app wasn’t very strong. Snap chat had public pressure on them to get the exploit fixed. The hackers where trying to prove that security an privacy should be the first goal because the security is just as important as user enjoyment from the app. I think that it was good and bad at the same time that snap chats where hacked. It was good because it was kind of like a wake up call to so young kids that where sending things that shouldn’t be sent. Snap chat was also bad because that is intruding on some ones personal things, and I know that I would be mad if my snap chat got hacked even if I wasn’t sending inappropriate things.

    1. i agree gina, it was wrong to hack peoples snapchats but then again, doing that raised awareness of the apps firewall and how easy it was to be hacked, personal photos and also phone numbers of innocent people were being released without their convent. All of this happening without the public knowing, thats an invasion of your personal space. and doing that without anyones permission is wrong and i do believe the people that hacked the app should get some kind of repercussions.

    2. I agree with Gina about there being a good a bad side to the hacking situation. It’s good because people will know not to send personal information and pictures to others and it’s bad because the privacy of people was invaded. I don’t think hacking the system is justified, but people should know better than to send explicit pictures of themselves. I honestly believe the situation could have been avoided. Even though you think the picture is wiped from existence after 10 seconds it is never truly gone.

With overflow of people in shelters and low food supplies puts a strain on the shelters leaving them in the hot/ cold with little to no food
Fort Lauderdale is cracking down on people and groups feeding the homeless in public areas. One of the first to be arrester was a 25 year old lady named Nikki Rye, a 17 year old minor and a third unidentified member, their statement to the police was they can not stop us. Police may be going a bit far by arresting a ninety year old man for sharing half of his sandwich. I always try to support any local surf production whether it is Surfers for Autism or Tommy Tant or any other local surf production. Tommy Tant was a local surfer; he was amazing. Tommy was an inspiration to many surfers, he had the guts to stand up and do thing people didn’t want to do. The Tommy Tant Memorial Surf Classic began as a small event to celebrate the life of the 24-year old surfer, who died unexpectedly in his sleep from an Aortic Aneurysm. An Aortic Aneurysm is a general term for an enlargement of the aorta; it can become 1.5 times larger than normal size. Surfers today come out for many reasons some just want to bring home another win, other just want to chill and see what Flagler has to offer, but most of us come to remember your lost brother. Something I really love about the contest is the vibe. Were all there to chill and remember you get no negativity that something you can never really find anywhere else. Comment something you would like yo do during the contest or love about the contest.

  58. Pope Francis declared all religions are true because of their believers and followers. However, he recently made a statment basically saying that in the Catholic religion, hell is commonly used but it is nothing more than a literall device and that it's not where people suffer. "Hell is merely a metaphor for the isolated soul..." says the Pope. I thought this was interesting because for a while, from what we've learned hell is a place where sinners went. The Pope believes that becase God is a friend and lover of humanity, he would not let us suffer in such a place after death. The Pope also belives that know matter what religion or idea, as long as it has believers and followers, it is true. I thought this was an interseting turn for the Catholic religion considering that we beilved that hell was a place for suffering after death. I believe this makes sense that all souls are united with God and that he wouldn't make us suffer literally in that way.

  59. Adrian Peterson suspended without pay for the rest of the 2014-2015 season for punishing his child, does that sound like a logical reason to lose your job? I don't believe you should get punished for simply disciplining your child. But for the rest of this football season The Minnesota Vikings Running back was told he will not play and will not be paid for his time out. I Believe that the National Football League (NFL) should not be allowed to get involved in a players lifestyle and judge how they discipline their children, in no way do i think he should be getting in trouble for spanking his child with a wooden switch. If the NFL is gonna suspend him he should at least still get paid, his family is losing major income due to the NFL not minding their own business.
If the NFL isn't going to allow him to play they should at least allow him to receive pay. He's a grown man who has a family to support and taking away his number one source of income is just rude. They could at least deduct his pay and still allow him to get a percent of his monthly income. I don't believe it is right to take away a hard working mans job based on the way he disciplines his children.

I can see how being able to bet on college games could create trouble, but I don't see the problem with allowing it for pro teams. If the biggest problem is potential fixing, think about it...the league minimum for an NBA, NFL, MLB or NHL player is around $300-400K, it would take someone betting a huge sum of money to influence a player to put a fix on, and the lower salary players wouldn't even play enough to be able to shift the point spread much. Like marijuana legalization, it would take the power away from the illegal bookmakers and sketchy betting sites in foreign countries that tons of Americans are already using.

They did the right thing releasing him from the team since his actions were so selfish.

    3. I disagree because if they would sit him down and talk to him about his selfishness that maybe he would change and that they should work it out as a team besides letting him go. With that they should not only work at as a team but tell him he need to work on his self that he know so maybe that he could change just for the team if that’s what he is about

    4. Yeah, bro I agree with you on this one because he never cared about any of his teammates. He played and went on the field thinking only about himself. His selfish actions could have lead him to further team loss in the rest of their football matches. If he looked out for his team, and worked together, then they could have won the match. But they did the right thing releasing Legarrette Blount from the team.

Gunshots rattled a peaceful, packed Florida State University library early Thursday, with three people getting hurt as hundreds of students huddled between bookshelves before police encountered and killed the gunman outside. One of the injured people is in critical condition at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, the hospital said. It identified another patient as Nathan Scott, who was shot in the leg and is in good condition. The third victim, grazed by a bullet, was treated and released at the scene. Officers from the Florida State and Tallahassee police departments responded within three to five minutes of the first reports of gunfire, according to Mayor-elect Andrew Gillum. Once there, they found the shooter outside Strozier Library and asked him to drop his handgun. The suspect did not comply with the commands, and actually shot at one of the officers they returned fire, and the subject was killed. The gunman was identified by authorities as Myron May, a 2005 graduate of FSU. The school canceled all classes and exams Thursday in the wake of the shooting, offering counseling services to those directly and indirectly affected. I think that all these school shooting that happen are terrible there just bystanders getting shot at for no reason.

  68. Three Florida State University students were shot and wounded by a gunman inside the school's Strozier Library early Thursday morning before authorities say the gunman was killed after a brief gunfire exchange with campus police. The scene at the library was chaotic at about 12:30 a.m. when an armed suspect walked into the Tallahassee building and opened fire. There were reports of several gunshots heard in a row. "This person just for whatever reason produced a handgun and then began shooting students in the library," FSU Police Chief David Perry said.

Sean Young, a student at the school who was on the third floor of the building, he said that students ran past him and some took refuge in a private study room rented by a fraternity.
Sarah Evans, another student from the school, from Miami said she was inside the library and heard a male student say he had been shot. When she looked at him, he was on the ground with blood spreading on his pants leg. In the meantime, the unidentified suspect made his way outside to the entrance of the building. He was confronted by campus police who ordered him to drop his weapon. The gunman disregarded the order and fired a shot at the officers. Police returned fire and fatally hit the man. WCTV.tv reported that all three victims were located around the library. The report said one student is in critical condition, another is stable and one was treated at the scene and released. Police did not say if the wounded were shot by the gunman.
In a press conference Thursday morning, police assured that the shooting was an isolated incident and there is not further threat on campus. University officials said campus will remain open Thursday, but all classes are canceled.

Now I'm not against or for gun control, but there needs to be a way to keep school shootings from happening. I have seen at least three school shootings within the last three years. We say we want to keep our guns, but people doing this is not helping our cases.

If people an walk into a store and buy the exact same thing, what is the problem with him selling them for a cheaper price? However, if it is actually illegal, the officers could've handled it in a much more professional and civil way. Eric threw his arms up and dropped what was in them when the police approached, surrendering himself to arrest. These officers had NO right to attack and choke Garner until he was unable to breathe, to the point of no return. A taze, if he was resisting, would've been plenty. I think that police now a days definitely abuse their powers, and take advantage of the things they're capable of. The death of Eric Garner should not have happened under any circumstance, and it is disgusting and ridiculous that the police does not face any charges, or disciplines. When the man began to say that he could not breathe, the police should have gotten up off of him. I truly think that officers have no patience left and just want to kill anyone for anything, because they are confident they will get away with it, and that is sad.

The man had put his hands up telling police he would stop what he was doing , knowing it was wrong and was allowing arrest peacefully. The police should get charged or atleast even fired for killing an innocent man , no police man worrys about getting in trouble because they do not

  73. Making a Splash: How the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge could change fundraising forever

Americans give more than three $300 billion dollars annually to charitable causes. The ALS Ice Bucket challenge is when millions of people across the countries share videos of themselves getting doused with freezing ice water. The cause is to stop and find a known cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a fatal disease that attacks the nervous system. Margaret Anderson, executive director of Faster Cures believes that we focused too much on finding treatments for the thousands of diseases. The Ice Bucket challenge is a great way to help stop the diseases.

The ice bucket challenge was not invented by the ALS association, but was used to raise funds for other charities. Many people from different places come to donate in the ice bucket challenge. By doing this, we are able to find a treatment that can kill the disease. Various people upload a funny video of themselves being doused into a bucket of ice during the challenge. As soon as you finish uploading your video, call someone out and give him or her 24 hours to donate. This results in a sense of suspense and urgency.

Iggy Azalea just doused herself in a bikini before the match started. The challenges visual component fostered a casual one-upmanship. This was fantastic for awareness of the diseases. As a result, this allowed people to be fully connected to each other. In the ALS association, the challenge now is to sustain it’s momentum by showing donors that their money is making a meaningful difference against a real and awful affliction-though more shows of celebrity support won’t hurt either.

I found it so amusing that celebrities also contributed to this cause. They gave an ok to people who thought it was dumb. People thought it was dumb eventually did it after they saw celebrities doing it. It put a smile on the faces of people who are battling with ALS. That was one of the most important reasons of the cause.

In the first story/article they wrote about him made it seem like he was a bad troubled kid. The police say he was caught on camera stealing from a convernience store stealing a box of cigars pushing the clerk into the display case. The other accusations that he was made for him was he did drugs and alcohol, he was rapping with vulgar lyrics, and apperantly got into a scuffle with his neighbor. In this first article I read was making him seem like he was a bad kid and was negative about everything. Everyone has rough patches, so he was just like everyone else. What makes him different? Kids at his school said he regularly flashed a smile which endured everyone around him. Even though he did graduate, he had a struggle with graduating on time. Thank the lord he got to graduate on time. After graduating, he had a big career ahead of him but then came the encounter with the officer. Mike and his friend were walking down a nearby street when the officer told them to get on the sidewalk. The officer says that Mike hit him and scuffled with him and put his hands up in surrender and then that is how he got shot. The friend said that Mike went to swing after the fact the officer put his hand on his kneck which is self deffence because Mike brown did nothing wrong. It is honeslty very upsetting because in the last couple of months, around the world, African Americans have been shot because of there skin color. So I believe that this was because of his skin color. I don’t understand because we all humans and we all bleed red.

    1. In life things happen, but this didn't have to happen. There were so many “he say she say” things flying around this whole incident. I believe they could have went a better way about this. The officer was wrong for shooting him as many times as he did. The officer should have just handcuffed Michael, instead of shooting him down. Then leaving him in the street for as long as they did. I , along with other people think the officer should have been convicted, but sadly he wasn’t .

  75. On October 1 the very first female director of the secret service, Julia Pierson resigned due to the fact that the secret service failed to prevent an intrusion at the white house, and uncovered other lapses in security. The director of homeland security announced Pierson’s resignation in a statement, he also announced that Homeland security will do an internal inspection of the secret service. Only a short month after there was another intrusion but luckily 23 year old Dominic Adesanya didn’t make it into the building, he was stopped by the secret service and two dogs. I feel the white house should have better protection. I feel this way because there should not be any intrusions into the building where the president of the United states works and stays.

    1. This article is very interesting. The secret service should have been more careful. If these type of situations keep happening the white house and others in it will not be safe. When it comes to things like intrusion you have to be careful. There are many people out there who want to harm people in the white house because of a disagreement.
